Researchers create device that turns sunlight into fuel for your cars

Fuel can be created from sunlight. This is a new breakthrough of technology, which will become the major competitor to most petroleum companies such as Shell. American and Swiss researchers from California Institue of Technology and Swiss Federal Institute of Technology have found a way to produce fuel from sunlight, which sounds kind of unbelievable.

The team has developed a device which is able to convert sun’s rays into fuels that can be stored. The stored energy can then be used at night when there is no sun or even be transported to areas with no sunlight.

The process is little lengthy, which you can grab the full details at Greenlaunches. But the final product from the process is the hydrogen that can be used to fuel cars to fuel cars and if combined with carbon monoxide can create syngas – a combustible gas used as a fuel source or as an intermediate for the production of other chemicals.

The researchers still have some work ahead such as improving the efficiency of the device and there is no indication when such a device to be ready for the market. But this will surely be a great impact since in the positive way to the environment.
